NEWS UPDATE: BANK OF CANADA (BOC) INTEREST RATE REDUCTIONS
The Canadian inflation rate fell to 1.6% in September, setting the stage for the BOC to reduce the Policy Rate by 50 basis points on Oct 23. This marked the fourth consecutive rate reduction in 2024 and combined with the previous three 25 basis point drops, lowered the Policy Rate to 3.75%. The BOC final rate decision this year is set for Dec 11 and another rate cut is widely expected. These rate reductions are intended to lower debt servicing costs and fuel stronger consumer spending and are welcome news to the Canadian Marine Industry.
