Agriculture and Construction: Key Markets for Canadian Growth

By Chris Cook and Chantal Robin

For the Agriculture and Construction segments at NCF Canada, we continue to focus on the development of the Northpoint brand through attendance at key industry shows in both Canada and the US, as well as through participation in various industry associations/events. This activity has created stronger exposure for Northpoint in the market and has helped in the ongoing development of OEM and dealer relationships across all Canadian provinces. Our team is working hard to build long-term, personal relationships with owners and executives, while delivering superior, value-added customer experiences by the entire team that supports NCF operations.

Your Canadian Team is here and ready to support our valued clients!

Diversification in these segments is key to Northpoint’s future as we serve a variety of customers, ranging from large to medium and small accounts.

Typically, agriculture products are purchased by farmers for their farming operations. The agricultural segment in Canada is fragmented with a few large foreign international OEMs such as John Deere, CNH Industrial, AGCO, Kubota and others with their own captive finance arm to support their dealers and customer base. These “main line” manufacturers command strong market share and are producing a wide range of products including tractors, combines, hay tools, etc. The medium and smaller sized OEMs are “short line” manufacturers producing specific pieces of equipment such as bale processors, hay rakes, bale carriers, grain/silage trailers, TMR mixers, feeding robots, etc. There are a multitude of medium size “short line” OEMs in the mix, which is the major area of focus and interest for Northpoint, including their respective dealer networks.

Construction products are purchased by contractors and builders for their clients’ projects. The construction segment is less fragmented but also includes a few large international OEMs such as Case, Caterpillar, John Deere, Hitachi, Komatsu, Volvo Construction and Liebherr, along with a few subsidiaries. As is the case with the agriculture division, each of these international operators has its own independent financing division. Subsequently, Northpoint’s primary area of business development is among the medium-size operators including Canadian OEMs and select subsidiaries of foreign companies.

No matter the size or scope of the account, Northpoint continues to support our customers by offering customized, flexible solutions delivered by our experienced and professional inventory financing team. Our bilingual and dedicated sales representatives and account managers are focused on ensuring top personalized service to meet customer needs and demand.

We look forward to further diversifying and building business into the Agriculture and Construction segments … and serving our customers with excellence!
