Director of Business Development, Aviation Finance

Northpoint Commercial Finance provides tailored financing solutions to businesses across North America, including inventory finance, equipment finance, and asset-based lending—designed to support growth and operational success.
This position will be focused on Aviation Financing within Northpoint Commercial Finance’s U.S. operations.
MISSION (Position purpose)
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President Aviation Finance, the successful candidate will be the growth catalyst for Northpoint Commercial Finance’s USA business aircraft, turboprop and helicopter portfolio.

Responsibilities

· Originate new business volume in the USA business aircraft, turboprop and helicopter finance market.
· Build, develop and manage strong business relationships with US aviation industry stakeholders, with a focus on business jets, turboprops and helicopters.
· Provide tailored financing solutions to NCF Aviation Finance prospects and customers: corporations, high net worth individuals, operators.
· Manage the existing NCF Aviation Finance portfolio by being the first contact to assist customers, as required.
· Work closely with the underwriting team to complete new transactions applications, annual reviews and market reviews.
· Represent NCF at various aviation industry events.
· Strong industry knowledge and thought leadership:
o Strong knowledge of aviation market trends, drivers and regulatory environment.
o Thorough knowledge of aircraft valuation drivers and trends, industryrelated legislation, and competitor strengths, to maximize prospecting effectiveness and source new business opportunities.
o Provide thought leadership and advice to Management to drive, improve and grow the Aircraft Finance product offering.
· Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for NCF’s reputation and safeguarding NCF’s customers and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
· Maintain a high level of customer service with both external financing partners and the internal team. Ensure compliance with NCF’s policies and applicable legislation in all dealings.
· Collaborate with NCF’s documentation and legal team, as well as external counsel during negotiation of various agreements.
· Coach and mentor junior team members.
· Perform other related duties as required, or as requested by the Assistant Vice President.

Qualifications

University degree in finance, accounting or economics
Minimum of 10year of experience either in leadership positions within Aircraft Finance at another financial institution or directly in the private aviation industry.
MBA, Master’s degree, CFA or CPA designation would be an asset.
Proven track record in business development and deal negotiation.
Ability to manage priorities and deliver in a timely manner.
Exceptional team player who demonstrates integrity in dealings with all stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills (oral and written);
Very good knowledge of Office suite software.
Excellent judgement.
Good negotiating skills.
Sense of priorities and autonomy.
